By my mid 20s, I still hadn’t grown out of anything. In fact, I felt worse than ever. I had to miss work or huddle at my desk miserable with a bottle of painkillers during my periods, but my misery lasted all month long. I was exhausted all the time. My digestion was a mess, my moods were all over the place, and my hair was breaking off and thinning.
Most people in their mid 20s dream of getting married, taking a vacation, or starting a family. I dreamed of just not living with my health issues. I went to multiple doctors and went through rounds of tests trying to find the reason for why I felt so sick and exhausted, and everything came up “fine.” But I was definitely NOT fine.
My only options were to take prescriptions and painkillers to manage my symptoms. But I knew that they didn’t explain why I felt this way plus they all came with side effects that would make me feel worse.
They had no idea at the time...
My menstrual cycle has always been a nightmare. During my teen years, PMS made me (and everyone else!) miserable, while heavy periods and horrible cramps put a huge kink in my life at least once a month. I had acne, I battled my weight, and just felt like a mess. My doctor and parents chalked it up to me being a teenager and that I’d grow out of it.
I started doing research on my symptoms, especially my awful periods, and I found out that hormone imbalance led to every single symptom I’d been experiencing. In fact, when I finally got a doctor to check my hormones, she looked at the results and said my hormone levels looked like that of a menopausal woman (but I was only 29 year old).
At least I had an answer; my hormones were indeed off. I felt relieved, but now I wanted to know what to do about it. I wanted a natural way to get better because I didn’t believe in just taking pills.
I WANTED TO GIVE UP, BUT I DIDN'T. I KEPT GOING. I KEPT SEARCHING FOR ANSWERS.
In order to best help others more deeply, I enrolled in the Women's Hormone Health Certification Program so I could learn EVERYTHING possible about nutrition when it comes to hormone balance, menstrual health, peri/menopause, as well as all the ins and outs of hormone lab testing, supplements, and so much more. Now, as a Certified Menstrual Health Specialist and Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, I have the passion, experience, and knowledge to help women maintain healthy hormone balance for good!
In addition to bringing comprehensive nutritional information and resources based on science and medically proven research, I also have the personal experience to guide and support women as they reach their health goals and reclaim their highest-vibe life!
My experience changed my life in wonderful ways, and now, I’m on a path to help others!
More research showed me the role food played in my hormone health. This was the first I’d heard of this! I wanted to learn more so I enrolled in the largest nutrition school in the U.S., the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I started applying what I was learning about healing the body holistically and was very pleased with how my body started to change.
Quickly, I felt an incredible difference and it just got better and better. No more PMS, my periods were getting lighter and l finally had my first pain-free period, which I didn't know would be possible for me. I didn't need painkillers anymore, at all. I had stable energy throughout the day and my mood swings were gone. Even better, the weight that clung to my midsection was going away without having to diet or count calories. I just focused on nourishing my body and giving it what it needed, and the transformation was amazing!
That was the exact moment it all changed for me. When I started owning my own health...
